Women Who Whiskey

Women Who Whiskey is an experimental whiskey club. Both for amateurs and connoisseurs, wWw is a global organization dedicated to creating a space where our members can cultivate their passions for whiskey, learning, and community. With a focus on inclusion, wWw aims to foster an inviting and educational environment for all those who have historically been left out of the traditionally male-dominated world of whiskey.

Membership is open to all and provides the opportunity to learn about spirits and cocktail culture and to join a worldwide network of like-minded people with a taste for curiosity and delicious drams. In 2026, Women Who Whiskey celebrates 15 years of uniting whiskey lovers around the globe. Cheers!

Barrel Select Releases

The Women Who Whiskey Co-Chairs are proud to partner with local distilleries and retailers to provide chapter members exclusive barrel select releases.
Our FIRST-EVER barrel select pick was released in 2025 and continues on as an annual tradition.

2025 Barrel Select Release:

Bødalen Bourbon Madeira Cask Finish by Far North Spirits

This whiskey is produced with a mash bill of 60% corn/30% rye/10% malt barley and features MN13 heirloom variety corn which can be traced back to agricultural developments with open-pollinated varieties at the University of Minnesota in the 1880’s, where this grain became preferred by farmers for its high yield potential and heartiness to withstand the elements.  Far North Spirits specifically worked with a cooperage broker to acquire the Madeira cask this release is finished in, providing a unique and exclusive limited production run.

The Women Who Whiskey Co-Chairs and Far North Spirits have partnered to bring our members the Twin Cities Chapter’s FIRST-EVER Barrel Pick!

Liz and Amy got the exclusive opportunity to sit down with Cheri Reese of Far North Spirits and Lisa Impagliazzo from North Loop Wine & Spirits to sample a special selection of single-varietal ryes, barrel-proof bourbons, and special cask finished whiskies, and learned more about the product’s mash bills, cask styles, and open-pollination grain sources. For our first-ever barrel selection partnership, we are excited to present to our members the Twin Cities Chapter Barrel Select: Bødalen Bourbon Madeira Cask Finish Whiskey.

This bottle is a great celebration of supporting local women-backed brands and initiatives within in our community. North Loop Wine and Spirits is independently woman-owned by Lisa Impagliazzo and services the North Loop and greater metro area. Cheri Reese is the co-founder of Far North Spirits pioneering the greater emphasis on local varietals within the spirits industry to have as much prominence as varietal importance has in wine. Women Who Whiskey is an international organization founded on the basis of bringing inclusion and education for those who have historically been othered within the traditionally male-dominated world of whiskey.

NOSE: Loam, rosemary, persimmon, crushed violets, geosmin
PALATE:
Plum, dried dark cherries, nutmeg, beetroot
FINISH:
Burnt toffee, stonefruit, dried fig, chestnut, and a slight minerality from the seaside exposure.

NOTES: Aged in a Minnesota Oak barrel for 2.5 years and finished for 5 months in a Madeira cask, this whiskey sits beautifully in the glass with an amber-red glow. At 48 percent alcohol, this sip is complex yet smooth and makes the perfect pairing to your Christmas dinner or for sipping by the fireplace. We recommend enjoying this whiskey with rich cheeses, smoked fishes, or deep dark desserts.

The provision of this barrel select partnership was generously facilitated by the interests from owners Cheri Reese and Lisa Impagliazzo.
